Penn’s View Hotel 20th Anniversary Cookbook and Logo
In October of 2010, Penn’s View Hotel celebrated their 20 year anniversary. With that, they wanted to do something special as a take away for their guests during their festivities celebrating their family owned and operated gem of a hotel as well as their attached restaurant, Ristorante Panorama. I proposed the idea of a booklet of family recipes since we were looking for a way to also incorporate the restaurant’s history into something personal and reflective of the family who has made the business so successful over the past 20 years.
The collaboration included photographer, Dominic Episcopo, who took beautiful shots of some of the featured food while the recipes were selected and written by Carlo Sena. The photographs were absolutely wonderful to work with and fit in perfectly with the original layout and design of the piece. Working with Carlo on this cookbook was an absolute pleasure.
A look at the book in full:
Along with the cookbook, I was also asked to create a 20th anniversary logo. Using the design from their original engraved room keys, the celebratory logo was born! I scanned in the metal key and made the art work vector so it could be worked with. The logo is meant to emulate a wine label with Penn’s View Hotel being “aged 20 years.” It can be seen on the back cover of the cookbook promotional piece.
The cookbook project/concept received recognition as a highly successful designed marketing piece in The Visual Marketing Book by David Langton and Anita Campbell. I am honored the piece was chosen to be included in their book.
