My fiancé and I are planning our wedding and have begun the process of visiting potential venues. I didn’t realize how much fun this was going to be! I’m not your traditional bride who’s got a plan, but I am shocking myself with my excitement regarding all of the details. I may finally have to admit it… I’m girlier than I anticipated.

Through my exploration, I’ve been relating everything to design in one way or another. I can’t help it! It’s the designer in me. The way the bar is laid out, the style of the ballroom, the ease of entrance for guests, the invitations, the cake, the style of the event, flower arrangements, centerpieces and of course the dress all intrigue me in one way or another. For this entry, I’ll be highlighting some inspirational posts I’ve found here and there (mostly FPO – can you tell I’m a fan?) that struck me regarding the design of the invitations/stationary. There are some seriously good ideas out there and it’s a bit overwhelming to think about what I want to do — I’m a print designer after all… I am feeling the pressure to create something beautiful! I think most of you will agree — we designers can be our own worst clients.

Have a look at these extraordinary inspirational designs (one isn’t an actual wedding invite, but you get the idea). Click on the images for the original post (more images and details for each item). What are your thoughts? If you’re a designer, did you/are you taking on the stationary design for your wedding? What were some obstacles you encountered? What were some of the advantages of designing your own stationary?
