Friday Tidbit: 11/27

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you had a great time with your families and friends. I had a great visit with my soon to be in-laws. Turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, asparagus, coleslaw, wine, and pumpkin pie — yum! Lots of stories and laughter. It has been a good holiday so far.

I always get the same question this time of year, “Are you going out tomorrow for Black Friday?” It’s something I usually avoid at all costs, but this year I was slightly interested. Not to go shopping, but to check out the alleged mayhem that goes with it. I want to see just how crazy people get when the last coveted toy of 2009 is on the shelf. What’s up with all the madness? Do people really throw elbows to get others out of their way? Of course, I stayed in, slept in, and enjoyed my warm, cozy bed. I think I might check out the insanity next year… I’ll make sure to bring my video camera! I’m curious to hear about any strange confrontations you may have had on Black Friday. Let me know in the comments section if you have.

In other news, since it’s almost the end of the week, it’s time for my Friday Tidbit. Here are a few links I’ve enjoyed this week I’d like to share with you:

Thanksgiving Maskers – I had no idea about this! Before Halloween was established in the US as the “trick-or-treating” holiday it is today, children donned masks on the last Thursday in November and went door-to-door for treats such as fruit!

Gloved handlebars (via Thought for the week blog by Johnson Banks ): For all of my friends in the city that ride their bikes through the cold winds of winter. Interesting idea, eh?

Dr. Sketchy’s Philadelphia’s December 19th session has been announced and tickets are on sale now! The theme is Pin-Up Era with models TBA. New time: 4-7PM at The M-Room.

That’s it for this week! Enjoy the rest of the holiday if you’re off today! Cheers!
